Gotta Get Away..
I think Southwest Airlines calls them “Wanna Get Away” fares, and I totally appreciate that because I ALWAYS wanna get away. I think the ultimate job for me would be to write and travel the world. So I decided in this next chapter of my life, I need to start traveling again more. Mama and I had a little trip planned to Seattle since I got back from my last trip there in December. I love Seattle, what a cool place! We had a super early flight the morning after Easter, so we were up at 3 getting everything finished and heading down to the airport. By this day though, my foot issue had reached a super high pain level… I’m sure the lack of rest, mixed with the “I’m still sick”, plus the altitude, and the fact that I want to walk everywhere in a city, didn’t help me much. Thank God for good doctors and the people who run their office. My doc office called me in a prescription to a pharmacy about 8 blocks from our hotel.
So I limped in the Seattle rain for this medicine, which was a medrol dose pack (aka crazy steroids over 6 days), stood in the middle of the store with a Vitamin Water, and downed Day 1 dosage of 6 pills, all of which were supposed to be spread out over a day’s period, but I was desperate. Down meds, check. Limp back to hotel in the rain with light tears in your eyes, check. Gear up because you’re tough and you want to go to dinner.
Our Seattle trip was a blast! I’ve highlighted some must-do’s in Seattle Lovin’ because I’m picky and researchy and wanting to always share tips. Pike Place Market is my favorite because there’s so much going on and I love people watching. It was a perfect walk from our hotel and I loved coming down the hill where you first see the lights and view. What a cool trip with my mama, very different from our Europe trip and so much fun! But on Wednesday, I started to go crazy a little bit…losing things in the hotel room and freaking out about it as I turned over the entire room. We got home Thursday and I decided that I had to do grocery shopping and food prep. Follow me for a sec…land at airport, pick up dogdaughters, get home, go to Trader Joe’s and Sprouts, go home, start cooking, unpack, do laundry… my head was spinning. I was jittery. I couldn’t put anything together that made sense. Then my friend pointed out to me about the steroids I was taking and a flashing light went off in my brain…. YES. *Quick side note, I was on prednisone for years with my Lupus.. It made me absolutely crazy. In fact, that’s the one drug I’ve said I prefer to never have to take again because the side effects are worse than the positive effects. But I was desperate with my foot and it’s the only drug that calms down that inflammation. So at the end of the Seattle trip and after for a bit, I was tweaking hard core from the meds. not sleeping, shaky, couldn’t think straight. The plus side to the meds was that my foot eventually started to feel better and I accomplished an extraordinary amount of tasks… always a silver lining.
